Q&A with Bruna Mebs
Recently Instagram launched a Q&A feature and since then our founder and designer Bruna Mebs has been getting lots of questions. Here are a few of them:
How long does it take for you to start working after you wake up?
My morning routine usually takes four hours. From 5 am to 9 am. It includes breakfast, meditation, exercise, caring for my dog, planning my day, shower and getting ready.
Do you prefer drawing live from nature or photos?
I love drawing from life but never allow myself enough time for that. I always end up using photos, but I do spend time combining them on photoshop.
What's your favorite medium to work with?
It used to be watercolor, now is ink.
How do you stay motivated?
I read my goals and business plan every morning, I also check my vision board daily.
Was it easy for you to choose a career in art? Have you had any doubts about it or your family wasn't as supportive?
I had and have their support but it wasn't easy. I started working as a costume designer and stylist and making the transition to art was tough because I do love clothes too. But I love the freedom to work from home. But the vulnerability of being artist made things very difficult.
You seem very peaceful, I wonder if you ever get that feeling of wanting to rush some things, are you ever impatient?
On the contrary, I'm the most impatient person I know. The meditation is helping but I still have to be reminded constantly to relax.
What are three traits you appreciate the most in others or in yourself?
In other: patience and being outgoing. In me: I'm proud to stick to my word.
Do you feel pressure to force yourself to work longer hours?
Everyday. But balance is important to avoid getting burned out.
