A few days ago I heard that some of my illustrations made into this commercial. A friend of mine, Cristina Byrne, who I often hire to take photographs for my instagram, decorated the set. She asked if she could use some of work there and of course I said yes. Now that the commercial is ready, seeing my work on the commercial seems a bit strange. Mostly because I used to be on the other side of the screen, dressing the actors. I often remember about my days of being a costume designer, probably thoughts come to my head on a daily basis. It’s hard not to when just turning the Tv on brings back a million things about my past career. I still struggle with the decision and miss it sometimes too. I don’t see myself going back to that world, because my reasons for leaving are still the same, but I do allow myself to reminisce. It’s nice to see that I could still be a part of that world, but now with my artwork. It does feel like this closes the circle, allowing me to have some perspective on how life can really surprise us. I would love to do more work for film and Tv, but maybe now with my writing and my art, instead of, or in addition to, costumes.
Thanks for reading.
