And the simplifying saga continues. Yesterday I was able to delete many files in my computer that were there just making noise. They weren’t essential to anything but I just haven’t had the courage to delete them. Courage, I know, how lame, but really, why do we hold on to things we know have no current purpose? Sometimes is easier for me to let of a piece of clothing go than a computer file because they seem to not be taking physical space, but they actually are. A computer that is running smooth gives me a lot of peace. And yes, for those who are thinking, just transfer to a hard drive, dropbox, whatever… I do that too, but it’s not an excuse to keep everything you have ever written or created.
This past month has been about organizing myself, I have been able to clean the storage rooms, declutter the entire house (which I believe is something to do constantly, but once big purge feels good), do all the laundry (things we don’t normally get to) and also organize all my plans, goals, schedules, to do lists, computer files, etc. I feel like a new person already. The more I get rid of of, the better I feel. When you free yourself from all the noise you end up surrounded by the classic things you love. And this feeling is almost like getting high, you want more and more. How many more things can I get rid of without stripping away the things I actually need? Even though I have been into minimalism for many years now, I think I can still get rid of a lot more. I’m gonna try purge 5 items a day in February. I love a good organizing challenge.
