When it comes to social media my rules are the same as when I do research, produce more than I consume. As long as I keep this reminder in my head I know when to stop. In my opinion, is the secret to keep envy and negativity away. I highly believe that the internet is here to enhance our lives but it’s up to us to use it properly. It is easy to get lost on watching other people do amazing things and wonder why can’t our lives be the same. It’s natural. And the key here is: use this feeling to motivate you to do more instead of less. If we use research for inspiration and information it’s then being well used, as long as it’s not overdone. You could research any subject forever and never be done. Same with scrolling through social media, it’s unlimited. Therefore, it’s up to you to impose a limit, time being the best one. Setting up a time limit, let’s say, I’m going to scroll for only 30 minutes a day, it’s a good start. But more important than that is, what will you do with what you found? How are you going to put in practice all the inspiration you just got? How are you using the information you just learned? Are you actually producing your own content, doing your own exercises, cooking your own food, otherwise, what’s the point? Life is meant to be lived. And depression can easily creep in if you lose the balance and start consuming more than you produce. Being aware of this is great, but you need to create a plan. Maybe it’s journaling for 10 minutes after scrolling through instagram and planning how are you going to put your goals in action. No amount of planning can substitute the simple motto, just do it. More action, less planning. And always, less research. You probably have all the answers inside you anyway. Now go and live, fight for your dreams, give your best, and watch happiness take over.
