Art For Men
Art can be defined in so many ways, so let’s start there. A simple definition of is a medium that expresses oneself. While each individual has their own taste, art can be the Mona Lisa, a child’s crayon drawing, a napkin doodle, or a country song. The vast majority of artists support themselves through traditional jobs and their making their art is a labor of love and reflection of themselves. Art is turning human emotion into a tangible thing.
So, who is art for? Art is created by everyone and in turn is there for everyone to enjoy. Men, women, children, and even animals can all enjoy art thanks to the many mediums to choose from.
While a hand-in-hand stroll through an art gallery has a reputation of being something only women would enjoy - the fact remains that some of history’s greatest artists were men: Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh, Leonardo Da Vinci and Claude Monet (just to name a few)!
Viewing art helps us understand ourselves better, leaves us in visual awe, teaches us about other people and cultures, help us connect with things we don’t understand or aren’t similar to us and challenges our assumptions. Art helps us grow whether we are the creator or the audience. So, when one asks, “Is there such a thing as art for men”? The answer is a resounding: yes.
