I mentioned before that creating a swatch book was the best thing I could do to speed up my painting process. No more wondering if I have a darker blue, a lighter pink, etc. I just have to glance at my swatches and know exactly what color I'm looking for.
The first thing I did was gather all of my watercolor paints, all brands, tubes and pans. Then I created a grid leaving 2 blank spaces for each color. The reason why I did this is because I wanted to swatch the color with more and less water. As you can see the color can change a lot just by the amount of water I add, so it's nice to know what the color will look like if I use a light wash. If you watch this video you will see a few other pages I added, like a color mixing chart and a color wheel.
