A few weeks ago I had a couple of friends over for the weekend and we got to watch the documentary The True Cost. It impacted us very deeply because the three of us went to FIT together and majored in fashion design. We just couldn't believe that we never had a class that touched on this subject. This should have been our orientation if you ask me. But so far beyond being economical, sustainable or earth friendly this documentary talks about how much our hunger for new clothes affects other people. People from countries that are being ignored and treated like animals. Just to give us a new t-shirt that we will use twice and forget about it. The three of us were in shock, disgusted by our habits and sad to be a part of the problem. Even though none of us are still working in the fashion industry we are still costumers of it. I usually just like to give my opinion when reviewing movies, books and documentaries, but this time, I'm asking you. Please watch this. Show it to your friends. And make better choices when buying clothes again. We can only do so much ourselves, but together we make a difference.
