It’s a warm afternoon and I’m starting to fall asleep on my desk. I decide I need an extra pick me up today and nothing will satisfy but Starbucks. I put my shoes on, grab a light jacket and make sure my hair isn’t too messy. I text you and ask you to join me there. Luckily you are having an easy day and is free to take a break as well. As I get out of my car I see you pulling in and I wait for you. We both debate on what to order, is it too soon for an iced coffee? I say no. I get a caramel macchiato as the sugar should help and you order a soy iced latte. I ask about how things are going with the new house and the baby. You tell me it’s hard to find the time to finish unpacking when a baby requires all your time. And when he finally falls asleep you are afraid to make too much noise and when him up. I offer to take the baby for a couple hours on the weekend if you want so you can get some things done. I see your face lighten up and I know it was the right thing to do. I’m not sure how to entertain a 5 month baby but I will figure out. I mean look at him right now? so peaceful sleeping in the stroller. I tell you that the illustration business is really taking off and I’m excited. I have new projects coming up and lots of people requesting my work. I tell you that I’m a bit surprised that I’m enjoying it so much and that I can’t believe it took me this long to make the switch. We are both very happy that the weather has been warm and we can almost see some leaves coming back. I tell you about my new low calorie 30 day diet and you look at me like I’m a bit crazy. But then I explain that is pretty much just eating healthy. I mention about my half marathon training and you wish you could join me but you aren’t ready. I imagine my life with a baby but shrug that off right away. We say our goodbyes and we are off on the road again. See you next time!
