Creating 3 meals a day, 7 days a week can be very hard. I tend to eat a lot healthier when I have something ready for when I’m hungry. If I have to stop and think about what to make when I’m really hungry, it will most likely be something unhealthy or take out. I don’t do well on an empty stomach. But if the snack or meal is ready, and all I have to do is heat it up, it is much easier to follow a meal plan. Which leads me to the next most important thing, meal plan. I need to know what I have planned for the week so I can go grocery shopping, it makes so much easier. I don’t need to go to the store mid week for things I forgot or need, and I don’t waste money, buying what it won’t be consumed.
But with a meal plan done, grocery shopping done, what else can be done to make eating 3x a day an easy thing? Here are 12 things that I will try to do on the weekends from now on.
1- wash all fruits and vegetables
2- chop some of the fruits and vegetables (like carrots, onions, celery, lettuce, kale, peppers)
3- make some trail mix with nuts, seeds and dry fruits (almonds, cashews, raisins…)
4- make some iced tea
5- make some protein healthy snack like energy balls, oat bars (there are a lot recipes for this on Pinterest)
6- slow cooker oatmeal for breakfast
7- slow cooker - black beans
8- slow cooker - pea soup, tomato, lentil, any soup really
9- make some healthy dessert - Pinterest is full of them
10- make some rice or quinoa
11- Juice, have two or three cups for the first few days of the week
12- boil eggs- for snacks or add protein to a salad
13- clear the house from unhealthy foods, like that, you will have to go out of your way to eat bad
14- have other quick healthy snacks ready like hummus, peanut butter, popcorn
15- buy frozen veggies that can be defrosted on the microwave
16- make muffins, casseroles, things that lasting advance
17- make pancakes
18- freezable meals
19- bake some veggies?
20- clean out refrigerator and pantry every week, it makes so much nicer to open an organized refrigerator, also easy to find what we are looking for right away.
