Since I moved to the US in 2009 I have always wanted to join the rest of the americans and carve scary faces on a vegetable when Halloween came around. I wanted to dress up too and go trick or treating but I'm afraid I'm too old for that. Every year when the holiday came around I found myself too busy with work to stop and do such a thing. This year, my husband kindly enough decided it was time to cross that off from my bucket list. He got me a big pumpkin and a set of tools to carve it. I didn't know what to expect from it, so I wanted to do a simple classic design. Classic oldie Jack'O Lantern.
The messy experiment turned out to be a lot of fun. I can see why kids love doing it and why adults may have never wanted to stop the tradition.
I heard that Halloween is now starting to become popular in Brazil too but I'm not sure how true to the tradition they are trying to be.
I think next year I will try to decorate the pumpkins without having to carve them which will make them last longer. Pinterest is full of awesome ideas, go check it out.
